Why I Built VowCrew: One App for the Whole Wedding Party
Planning a wedding already takes a lot. Planning one through six different group chats, a shared notes doc, a spreadsheet, and a pile of screenshots takes even more.
I built VowCrew so the couple and their wedding party can keep everything in one place: the plans, the people, and the money.
I started building VowCrew when I was 22. In December 2025, I was asked to be a bridesmaid in a wedding happening in November 2026, and I was added to the group chat right away. Within days I was buried. Dates, dress details, plans and links were flying in, and anything important got lost under the next message.
So I went looking for an app my group could use to stay organized. I couldn't find one that worked well for us, so I built it myself.
Here's what VowCrew does, and why each piece exists.
Everyone in one place, with the right access
You start by creating your wedding party in VowCrew and sharing an invite code. Bridesmaids, groomsmen, family and friends join with the code, and each person gets a role. Partners in the marriage can run things, and wedding party members see what's relevant to them.
No more adding the new bridesmaid to four different chats, and no more "wait, who's in the group?" The Wedding Crew list shows who's in your party, and everyone can find each other quickly.
Group chat and item chat
Every wedding party gets a group chat, and individual items, like a shop product or an event, can have their own chat. That means the conversation about the bridesmaid dress stays with the bridesmaid dress, and the conversation about the rehearsal dinner stays with the rehearsal dinner.
You'll also get push notifications for new messages, events and updates, and you can turn them off any time.
Events and itineraries, for every part of the wedding
Add the engagement party, bachelorette trip, bridal shower, rehearsal dinner, and wedding day as events. Each one can include:
- the event type, city, and address
- a description, and what everyone needs to wear
- who can see it, so you can keep a surprise from the bride or plan a separate bachelor trip
- an Add to Calendar button, so it lands in the calendar you already use
Trips are where this really helps. You can keep the flights, the stay, the dinner reservation and the dress code together, instead of scrolling back through a chat to find them.
Everyone's flights in one view
For a bachelorette or destination wedding, the question is always "when does everyone land?" VowCrew lets each person add their flight, and the event page groups them so you can see who's arriving when, and who lands around the same time and could share a ride.
A schedule for each event
Add the brunch reservation, the boat rental, and the dinner booking to an event's schedule, with a time, a place, and the confirmation number or link. Everyone who can see the event sees the plan, so no one has to ask "what time is brunch again?"
Splitting expenses without the awkward texts
Trips and weddings mean shared costs. VowCrew's expense tracking lets you log what was paid and who owes what. You can snap a photo of a receipt, and VowCrew reads the items for you so you aren't typing every line. Nobody has to cover the boat rental for four months and hope to get paid back.
A shared shop and shopping list
The Shop has bridesmaid dresses, accessories, gifts, and other wedding party essentials. Your party can build a shared list and track what's been bought, so you don't end up with three of the same gift and zero of the thing you needed. Some products link to retailers, and we may earn a small commission at no cost to you.
A newsfeed for the fun stuff
Not everything is logistics. The wedding newsfeed is where your party shares photos, posts, and updates, so the bridal shower pictures live next to the plans.
Privacy and control built in
You can leave or archive a wedding party, block someone, or report content, and you can delete your account in the app. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
