VowCrew ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through this Privacy Policy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use the VowCrew app and website (vowcrewapp.com).
Information We Collect
Account Information: When you create a VowCrew account, we collect your name, email address, and phone number, and optionally a profile photo.
Wedding Party Information: We collect information you provide about wedding events, expenses, group chats, the wedding newsfeed, and shop items, including dates, event locations and flight/travel details, receipt images and expense details, and photos, videos, messages, posts, and comments shared within your wedding party.
Usage Information: We automatically collect certain information about how you use VowCrew, including device type, app version, and how you interact with features (such as which tabs you visit, session length, and actions like creating an event or sending a chat message), through our analytics provider, Mixpanel, to help us improve the app.
Push Notifications: If you enable push notifications, we collect a device push token, used solely to deliver notifications to your device. Enabling push notifications is optional — you can decline the permission prompt or turn notifications off at any time in your device's Settings, and this does not affect your ability to use the rest of the app.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain the VowCrew app and its features
- Allow you to communicate with your wedding party members
- Send you notifications about wedding party activity (new events, messages, expenses, and shop items)
- Send transactional emails such as password resets and account confirmations
- Improve and develop new features
- Respond to customer support requests
Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:
Your wedding party: Information you post (events, expenses, photos, messages) is visible to other members of your wedding party that you have joined or invited. Your name, email address, and phone number are also visible to other members of your wedding party in the Wedding Crew list.
Service providers: We use third-party services (such as Supabase for data storage and Resend for email delivery) to operate VowCrew. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your information.
Analytics: We use Mixpanel to understand how VowCrew is used so we can improve the app. Mixpanel receives your name, email address, and behavioral data such as feature usage and session activity — never the content of your messages, photos, or receipts.
AI processing: When you scan a receipt using VowCrew's expense-splitting feature, the receipt photo is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to extract itemized expense details (merchant, items, amounts). This data is used solely to populate your expense entries.
Affiliate links: Our Shop section may include affiliate links to third-party retailers (such as Amazon). If you make a purchase through these links, we may earn a commission. We do not share your personal information with these retailers as part of this arrangement.
Content reports: If you report a post, message, or user, we collect information about the report — including the reporter's identity, the reported content, and the reason for the report — and store it so our team can review and act on it, including removing content or restricting accounts as described in our Terms of Service.
Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of VowCrew, our users, or others.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption and security practices through our database provider, Supabase. While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.
Your Choices
- You may update or correct your account information at any time within the app's Settings.
- You may delete your account at any time from Settings within the app. Deleting your account removes your profile information and personal media (such as your profile photo and any photos or videos you've uploaded) from our systems. Content you contributed to a shared wedding party — such as chat messages, newsfeed posts, and expense entries — may remain visible to other members of that wedding party, attributed to a generic "Removed User" placeholder rather than your name, consistent with our Terms of Service. Age Requirement and Children's Privacy
You must be at least 13 years old to use VowCrew. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and if we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it as soon as possible. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at hello@vowcrewapp.com.
Users between 13 and 17 years old are permitted to use VowCrew only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian, consistent with our Terms of Service.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.
